Rob Van Dam vs. Seth Rollins - The crowd seems to be behind RVD tonight. After a couple counters, we get a stare down. Rollins attacks Van Dam as he does his RVD pose and takes control. After a few nice kicks by RVD, Rollins is sent to the outside. Van Dam rolls him back in only for Rollins to roll right back out. Rollins suckers RVD into a big clothesline outside as the show heads to break. Back in the ring now, Seth Rollins is in control, slamming Van Dam's shoulder into the ring post. RVD counters a submission hold and sends Rollins face first into the turnbuckle. Rolling Thunder for a near fall. Rollins shoves Van Dam off the top rope onto the barricade and continues the assault outside the ring. RVD reverses Irish whip and sends Rollins into the timekeeper area. Van Dam gets back into the ring just before Rollins is counted out. Post-match, Rollins is angry and appears to have been cut on his forehead.
TPM's Takeaway: Very good match from these two. It's actually refreshing to have a countout win for a change. Reports have Van Dam's current run with the company ending this week. Here's hoping we get a rematch Friday on Smackdown.
Backstage vignette shows Curtis Axel and Adam Rose having an altercation earlier today. Rose tells Axel he's sorry about Ryback's injury and invites him to join the Exotic Express. Axel declines and calls them a bunch of freaks. Rose calls him a lemon.
Curtis Axel vs. Adam Rose - Axel dominating most of the match early. He hits a beautiful dropkick. Shades of his father, Mr. Perfect, on that one. Adam Rose's posse keeps chanting and Axel is getting frustrated with them. Rose comes back with a spinebuster and an attempted Party Foul, but Axel counters. Rose connects with a second Party Foul for the win.
TPM's Takeaway: Predictable match. I hate to see Axel in this position because he is a real talent. Ryback's injured?? Maybe his tweets about being repackaged actually have validity this time.
Raw Rebound package focused on the John Cena-Brock Lesnar happenings from last night.
Goldust & Stardust vs. Los Matadores (w/El Torito) - Footage of the Dust Brothers attacking the Usos was shown. Goldust and Stardust in control in the early going. Back from break and Los Matadores are mounting some offense. A little more back and forth after tags to Diego and Goldust before Stardust tags back in and gets the win with Dark Matter. After the match, Stardust attacks El Torito and throws him outside the ring.
TPM's Takeaway: The sole purpose of this match was to establish Goldust and Stardust as heels and I don't believe it worked. There were "let's go Goldust" chants throughout the match even if they didn't get very loud. They got a small bit of cheap heat with attacking El Torito, but WWE has to do a better job than this if they're going to push them as one of the top heel teams.
Overall, the show should have been in reverse order because the matches progressively got worse. Rollins vs. RVD was definitely the highlight.
Quick Results:
Rob Van Dam d. Seth Rollins
Adam Rose d. Curtis Axel
Goldust & Stardust d. Los Matadores
